Is a pod house on Pandora with a Patricia Urquiola interior to much to ask ?

This journey of inspiration started with some images that took my fancy on the Coolhunter website it started with this image of the interior of the Mandarin Hotel in Barcelona designed by one of my top 5 fave designers Patricia Urquiola,

i then spotted this cool dwellings project from a company called Binishells originally developed in the 60's by Dr Dante Bini are now being relaunched as sustainable housing for the future,

this triggered of something in my brain as i recalled an artist from my youth that i was totally into called Roger Dean

when i went to his site i was thrown back in time by the images there, i suddenly realised why i loved the visual feast in the movie Avatar so very much, it was every part the worlds i inhabited in my mind, loved to look at in the Roger Dean art books i had (see also  Rodney Mathews) and my mums 'Yes' album covers.

I also discovered a great selection of retro future images in a similar vein HERE

'Autoban' was established in 2003 by Turkish designers Seyhan Özdemir and Sefer Çaglar, As Autoban they have worked (and continue to work) on various interior projects, both commercial and residential. In addition, they began developing product designs as a rational extension of their interior work, with their product range being available through 'De La Espada'. TERRACE OUTDOOR LIVING

I am very pleased to announce the launch of Terrace Outdoor Living a web based (so far) company i have been working on with my very dear friend and recent Mum ! Bianca Moore.
Terrace stems from my background in horticulture and current experience in interiors and styling, Bianca has helped me out with the sewing of many cushions on shoots & after a particularly large one focused on outdoor entertaining, we decided we would start a business that catered for the outdoor ozzy lifestyle and decided to bring together an ever
growing selection of stylish and interesting pieces of furniture and accessories for outdoor use. The long term aim is to open a store that encompasses this idea & provide products that will help anyone create their own outdoor oasis. We have also coined the phrase "Extrerior decorators" & will be providing a product sourcing and styling service.......... watch this space !!

Animation now....

My new favorite thing to do in the morning whilst eating my breakfast ( after  checking my emails of course ! ) is to explore the wonders of you tube ... whilst  randomly browsing i stumbled upon the You Tube Screening Room   some great animation... My Favorite ones were MORE  RYAN  and WHEN DAY BREAKS

Now thats what i call gardening......

Coming from a horticultural background, nature and gardening constantly inspires me, none more so than Patric Blanc the inventor of the Vertical Garden or Le Mur Vegetal seen in action here at Jean Nouvel's Musée du quai Branly http://www.verticalgardenpatrickblanc.com

These stunning feats in horticulture seem to be the future of gardening, helping to green up our ever expanding cities and may go some distance to clean up the air as our natural world is diminishing.

Making headway in this area are a company called Atlantis Corp http://www.atlantiscorp.com.au with their 'Green city' technology and their concept for an Ecological house the   overal concept is "designing water management technology that not only meets human needs, such as preventing flooding, but also restoring nature's water purification system and conserving resources for future use".

For real future vision check out http://www.massstudies.com "Mass Studies was founded in 2003 by Minsuk Cho in Seoul, Korea, as a critical investigation of architecture in the context of mass production, intensely over-populated urban conditions, and other emergent cultural niches that define contemporary society"

And when the seas do finally rise and the land becomes uninhabitable........

Vincent Callebaut has all the answers http://www.vincent.callebaut.org
These guys and other inspiring architecture are featured in the September/October 08 issue of Vogue Living Magazine.

Amazing worlds in Snow Globes!

A friend showed me these incredible haunting works a few weeks ago......

by artist couple Walter Martin & Paloma Munoz from New york, they are exploring tiny little dramas  transforming them into miniature snow globes that depict an elaborate and intricate bleakness of emotions and populated by all sorts of people and creatures. A world in everlasting winter, magical and scary and at the same time somehow funny! I was transfixed. Check out the website http://www.martin-munoz.com  just amazing, if not a little creepy!

Check it out !

At last after wittering on for ages about doing my website ( and bagging blogs in general ha ! ) here it is !!!  its a work in  progress so bear with me ........Sooooo....  heres my first proper entry and although its a little old news.... it was a great experience.. i was asked  by Designer Rugs on behalf of House & Garden along with all the leading homewares titles to create a room set to compliment a rug from the a range designed by Australian Fashion designer Akira ! ... We each had to choose just one item from six different stores to create a room set or instalation around the rug to be displayed  in the Moma Gallery at circular quay along with my competitors - rivals. It was challenging as I usually get free reign to choose more than one item from as many stores as I like but it was a great experience and I was really please with the results...
